My Thoughts: Well I'm going to share some of my thoughts and my personal revelations from this book. The 5 Love Languages of Children is full of so much information. The first chapter discusses how love is so important. It shows how to love your children as they are growing.

The next five chapters give in depth information on the five love languages; physical touch, words of affirmation, quality time, gifts, and acts of services. The information in these chapters is so great. It really helps to give understanding of what may be going on with your children and what kind of love they may need. I learned so much in these chapters about my own children. It was enlightening. Each of these chapters also gave a great little section of tips and ideas for parents to use if that love is their child's primary love language.

Chapter 7 was even more helpful. It discusses "how to discover your child's primary love language". It discusses how a child's love language may change as they grow. It shows ways to learn your child's love language. I love the ideas to give your child choices between different love languages and then keep track of the love language they choose.

The chapter on discipline and love languages was very good. Again, I learned so much! The information about two year olds and the word "no" being used as a way to gain independence instead of defiance was so helpful. The chapter hit on some very important problems, such as if your child doesn't feel enough love then they may misbehave. Also there is great information on the best ways to discipline, by taking it in steps until the misbehavior stops. First requesting, then commanding, then physical manipulation, then punishment, and finally behavior modification.

I really appreciated the information about learning. It was very interesting to learn how much a child's love language and the parent can effect a child's learning. There were some helpful tips on encouraging your child and information on how anxiety also effects learning. There were some helpful tips on how to handle anger. The anger ladder was very interesting and something that I hope to implement with my children. There was a chapter for single-parents and also a very helpful chapter on love languages in marriage.

I have learned so much from this book about my own children. Now when Abigail continues to give me her toys and her snacks, all the while smiling and getting excited, she is possibly practicing the love language of gifts. She also loves to be held, so physical touch is an important love language for her. I also can be pretty positive that Robbie's love language is physical touch. From the time he was a baby he has wanted to be held or he has felt the need to touch someone. He always places people's arms around him and sits in everyone's laps. Riley seems to really speak the quality time love language. She always wants to sit with people and do things. Brittany and Ashlynn are a little bit of a mystery. They both show several different attributes and I can't pin point one but now I know how to learn more about them. I also know that since all of my children are so young their love language may change several times in the future.

This is a book that I would very highly recommend to parents. This book is so informative and helped me gain a lot of insight. I plan to look at the other books about love languages.
