The Silver Cross by Debra L. Martin & David W. Small - Review

Title: The Silver Cross
Authors: Debra L. Martin and David W. Small
Publication Date: September 15, 2012

Synopsis: There are two things Boston detective Lacey Gardner knows about killing vampires. Slicing off a head or a hit directly to the heart are the only surefire ways to kill one. Silver is their Achilles heel. A vampire never wears silver.
When she meets bartender extraordinaire, Damon Harte, her heart does a quickstep for the dark hunky guy. She’s learned the hard way that having a love interest in her line of work can be heart-wrenching. She’s kept to herself for years, but something about Damon captivates her and draws her to him. When she learns Damon’s devastating secret, she knows what she has to do: kill the man who has stolen her heart.
My Thoughts: The Silver Cross brings something extra to the romance story between a vampire and a human. Lacey hunts vampires and hates everything about them. Damon is a special kind of vampire. So although they have feelings for each other it isn't all cut and dry love and let live. Martin and Small gave readers excitement, drama, and mystery.
The characters were well written. As the story progressed there were occasional back stories to give you a better idea of who they are and how they got that way. Lacey is a perfect vampire hunter. She is dedicated and very driven to end the existence of vampires in her city. Damon is a leader. He tries to help vampires live more in harmony with humans. Then Nic and Rebecca are perfect villains. It wasn't hard to feel animosity towards them and all the mess they made.
The story is a wild ride, and very fast paced. There were funny moments tossed in, brought by Lacey's partners in vampire hunting. The romance was a little steamy in places, but not overdone. Then of course there was the ending, which left me satisfied but definitely wanting more. I'll be looking forward to the next book in this series.

  1. Melissa, thank you so much for featuring The Silver Cross on your blog today. I'm thrilled you enjoyed the book. I am working on the outline to the sequel so there will be much more with Damon and Lacey.
