All of that is easier said than done when not only one, but two men crave her healing touch, igniting every single desire she’s denied herself for so long. Cooper Davis, NFL’s star quarterback and most eligible bachelor, packs up and leaves his home to move across the states to the East Coast after an injury results in the embarrassing trade to another team. Bitter from the pain, he deals with his problems through drugs and alcohol—almost ruining his football career—until he meets the one woman who makes him want to feel; the same woman who refuses to give up on him no matter how many times he screws up. He has to have her, and he’s not going to stop until he makes her his. Especially, now that someone else threatens to take her away. Motocross champion and local bad boy Luke Collins never takes no for an answer. For the past four months he’s used his charms to get what he wants, and now he’s so close to getting the girl of his dreams … if she’ll give in just once. One time is all he needs, and he’s never been known to fail, but he’s also never had to fight for a woman’s affections. Only one man will win their way into Kate’s heart, but which one will intercept the other and take what they want? Which one will she choose?

Bee Helpful by J.W. Edwards III - Excerpt

BeeHelpfulBanner
Bee_Helpful_webFor Sunny Bee, being truly helpful means going anywhere and everywhere. When his beautiful sunflower friend Myah becomes very ill, Sunny travels to the “far side of the hills” seeking help. Faced with a series of challenges including a raging storm, large spiders, or even the intimidating Grandfather Oak, Sunny’s dedication never wavers! (ages 4 - 8) Softcover: http://amzn.com/0991325303 Hardcover: http://amzn.com/0991325311

Excerpt: Later on, when the storm had mostly passed, there was only moonlight and the sound of leftover
raindrops. In the middle of it all, little Sunny Bee stood tall on the branch of an old Bay tree that
overlooked the distant flowering fields. He gazed beyond the fields and past the smaller hills
toward the large, full moon.

He remembered Myah and how she taught him what being a friend was all about. Sunny also
remembered how life was at home and began to miss it. He had also missed his supper for the
past two nights. And for the first time in his life, he was on his own.

Sunny looked at the moon for the last time and sighed. He then pulled down a little leaf for
cover and laid himself down to sleep. The chilly night caused his warm yellow color to turn blue.
He slept in that cold, wet place, shivering and occasionally sneezing softly. “Ahh-chooo!”

After a while, a sudden gust of wind woke Sunny up and blew him off the branch. He fell from
branch to branch, finally clinging to one.

A voice spoke out of the darkness. “Well, well, well. A gift-wrapped dinner all for me?” “Oh no,
a spider!” Sunny fretted. “Wait! What if I tell you my story? Will you let me live?”

“I’m sure my heart will find your story very touching, but I have this thing inside me called a
stomach and it has no room for stories, only for food,” said the spider, creeping closer.

“But—I’ll fly away!”

“I have plenty of eyes to see that you are wounded. You can’t fly or defend yourself,” said the
spider, as he got ready to pounce…

An Italian Obsession by Kfir Luzzatto - Review

AnItalianObsessionBanner
AIO New CoverIn the lax atmosphere of middle-class post-war Italy, sex and drugs are easy to come by. Roberto tries to find his own balance, but a crush he had for Alessandra in elementary school is reignited and the course of his life is changed forever. Love, Sex And Betrayal It's the 1970’s, a time of political upheaval driven by disillusioned young people. Roberto is caught up in the times. He makes a new start, but his past catches up with him. Finding himself accused of a crime, he must defend himself even when he isn't sure he committed it. A new adult novel that will grab you and won't let you go.

My Thoughts: An Italian Obsession is a very wild ride. There is a love story, but there is so much more. The book read a lot like a memoir to me, in the sense that it was more telling than showing.

The story is told by Roberto and his insights as he told it were interesting, if a bit troubling at times. The other characters were all touched on but none really had a lot of depth for me. It wasn't necessary for this story, but I occasionally wondered about characters. Roberto was very in depth, and I liked the journey he took through his past.

This book was shocking and nothing I expected. It is not exactly what I am used to from a book, but I still had to keep reading. I felt pulled to find out what could possibly happen next. I loved the look into life in the 1970s, and how people lived in Italy then. I think this book will interest people who enjoy a bit of a psychological mystery with a slightly twisted love story.

Meet the Author:

Kfir was born and raised in Italy, and moved to Israel as a teenager. He acquired the love for the English language from his father, a former U.S. soldier and WWII veteran, a voracious reader and a prolific writer. With a PhD in chemical engineering and a long family history that he needs to live up to, Kfir work as a patent attorney and heads the patent law firm that was established by his great-grandfather in Milan, Italy, in 1869. Kfir lives in Omer, Israel, with his full-time partner, Esther, their four children, Michal, Lilach, Tamar and Yonatan, and the dog Elvis. Writing has always been Kfir's passion and for almost four years he wrote a weekly "Patents" column in Globes (Israel’s financial newspaper), which also yielded his only (if he can help it) non-fiction book, THE WORLD OF PATENTS, (a not-so-boring tale of what patents are about, in Hebrew), which was published in 2002 by Globes Press. Kfir loves writing short stories but has too many novels waiting to be written (and possibly not enough years ahead of him to write them all), so now he mostly writes full-length fiction. His other passion is working with other authors on stories he loves and that's how he wound up serving on the editorial board of The Harrow Press as Anthology Editor. You can read about Kfir's books here. He loves them all, but never had greater fun than when working on “HAVE BOOK WILL TRAVEL”, a YA fantasy that he wrote together with his son, Yonatan. Or is it?

My Thoughts: Two Brothers: Heritage is as much of a roller coaster ride as the first book. It is filled with aliens, government agencies, and teenage issues. It is a combination that worked out in an great way. Things moved fast as everything seemed to crumble around the twins. Again I found myself questioning how much more they could take.

I've had a switching of opinions about the brothers. I ended up liking Tai's character more in this book, probably because he seems to have grown up a bit. He's still cocky, but it wasn't as overwhelming. Argus seems a bit flighty and confused. Still the twins together are an interesting force, and I love their interactions with each other.

This book is full of wild alien abilities and plenty of exciting technology. I loved the fast paced excitement, and following the different stories along through different views. I'll be really excited to see how this trilogy wraps up. I think sci-fi lovers will enjoy this book.

Drake: Episode 1 Emergence by Mike Kraus - Review

DrakeBookTourbanner

drake_series_book_1_cover_v1Episode 1: Emergence

Lost to myth and legend, few believed that dragons were real, and still fewer believed they could ever return. When a covert operation resulted in their release, all the might and power of the world couldn't hold them back. With the world on the brink of defeat, the few who remain must grapple against all odds to combat an enemy that nearly drove us to the brink of extinction once before - and which is about to do so again. From bestselling author Mike Kraus (Final Dawn, Prip'Yat) comes a new, five-book series: Drake: An Oral History of the Dragon War. In what can be best described as "World War Z with dragons," Drake portrays a realistic, scientific history of the emergence of the drakes, and humanity's subsequent battle just to stay alive. The gripping 5-part series will take you around the world, examining the history of the war from all sides: political, military, civilian, scientific and more.

My Thoughts: This is the first time I have read a book in an interview format like this. I love dragons though, so I was up for the challenge. I ended up loving the format of this book. The interviews were interesting, as was the information surrounding them.

I enjoyed how, although we weren't getting the full scene spelled out, or all the internal thoughts of the characters, I felt involved. The subjects had personality. From just brief chapter long interviews, Kraus was able to give them life. I could feel their internal struggle with revealing things that hurt or that could get them in trouble. It was really amazing.

This is a short and to the point book. It's an introduction to the drakes, or dragons. I loved how it touched on so much, from the government reactions to scientists, to just everyday people. I finished it ready to read the next book. I think that if people enjoy dragons or post apocalyptic books they will love this book. I would consider this a must read for them.
